The
philosophy of the Hare Krishna Movement is not new; it is based on
the Vedas of ancient India. The Vedic wisdom has been distilled into
the Bhagavad-gita (spoken by Lord Krishna) and the Srimad-Bhagavatam
(narrations about Lord Krishna).
The Srimad-Bhagavatam states, "This Bhagavata Purana is as
brilliant as the sun, and it has arisen just after the departure of
Lord Krishna to His own abode, accompanied by religion, knowledge,
etc. Persons who have lost their vision due to the dense darkness of
ignorance in the Age of Kali shall get light from this Purana."
Srila Prabhupada wanted his disciples and followers to distribute
this knowledge widely for the benefit of all the people of the
world. New Dvaraka is a perennial leader in the effort. Many
devotees go out every day to distribute books at the airport, on
college campuses, at concerts, etc., just to give people a chance to
take advantage of this timeless wisdom.
